Francis is an Amazing Bringing Hope Home Family previously assisted through our Light of Hope Family Grant program. Francis is a kind-hearted, adventurous man who loves to explore new places with his lovely wife, Theresa. Together they enjoy traveling to different states to admire the beautiful scenery, and to try new restaurants. Francis is an avid model train collector, and attends train shows whenever he can. Francis has always been an active member of his community, serving as a bus driver for 35 years, 15 years within the city of Philadelphia, and as a basketball and football coach for 20 years. Francis states that coaching was such a wonderfully rewarding time in his life.
Francis underwent chemotherapy treatment following his lung cancer diagnosis in September of 2022. Undergoing this type of treatment changed Francis as a person. “It is a daily journey to get back to where I was,” he states. Ever since his diagnosis and treatment, Francis has been focused on eating right and exercising to maintain a strong body and mind.
Through the Light of Hope Family Grant program, Bringing Hope Home assisted Francis with his mortgage payment and provided Acme gift cards to supply groceries. Francis describes Bringing Hope Home’s assistance as a “Godsend”. After being out of work for a while due to chemotherapy treatments, Francis and his wife were able to catch up on their bills because of the assistance they received through the Light of Hope Family Grant program.
