Guidelines

In order to qualify for the Light of Hope Family Grant Program, Families must:

Live in the geographic area we serve.

Please see exact counties below:
Pennsylvania: Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery & Philadelphia Counties
New Jersey: Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester & Salem Counties. We can also assist Families living in Northern, NJ who are receiving their treatment at Hackensack Medical Center.
Delaware: Kent, New Castle & Sussex Counties
Connecticut: Fairfield County

New York: Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Westchester & Bronx Counties.

Maryland: Families being treated at a LifeBridge Health facility (Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, Carroll Hospital, Northwest Hospital, The Herman & Walter Samuelson Children’s Hospital at Sinai), Medstar Cancer Network, or Ascension St. Agnes Hospital who live in one of the following counties: Baltimore, Baltimore City, Carroll, Harford, & Howard Counties.
Maryland: Families being treated at the Richard A. Henson Cancer Institute – Tidal Health who live in one of the following counties: Harford, Cecil, Kent, Queen Anne’s, Talbot, Caroline, Dorchester, Wicomico, Somerset & Worcester Counties.

Have a cancer diagnosis and be undergoing active treatment at the time of nomination. Active treatment includes currently receiving chemotherapy, radiation, hormonal therapy, or stem cell therapy. BHH also assists families who have had a recent bone marrow transplant, recent cancer surgery, or who are receiving hospice care.

Be nominated by a member of their oncology team. This can be a social worker, clinician, or healthcare professional.

Be aware that this is a one-time grant that is used to pay household bills such as rent, mortgage, electric, gas, oil, water, phone, transportation and groceries. Grant funds are are paid directly to services or vendors and are never given directly to the Family.

Have a financial need that is directly related to their cancer diagnosis.
