Kevin’s Story Of HOPE

Bringing Hope Home Family, Kevin is a big-hearted, sweet man whose top priority is ensuring his family is okay through his cancer journey. Kevin has three supportive children, Ian, Eric, and Lotus, as well as a brother and sister. He says the love and support he feels from his family keeps him grounded, and he is able to stay supportive of his family in return.

Kevin lost his job during the COVID-19 Pandemic, and shortly after, he noticed he was having some trouble swallowing. Kevin received health insurance through the state to get the issue checked by a doctor, and was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer in November 2020. That year, Kevin received chemotherapy and radiation treatments and underwent surgery in February of 2021.

Kevin is a huge football fan and shared that one of his favorite memories was going to the Miami Dolphins game with his brother. They flew down to Miami to see them play on their home field. Although it was an awesome game, Kevin said his all-time favorite team is the Minnesota Vikings!

Through the Light of Hope Family Grant program, Bringing Hope Home was able to assist Kevin with his mortgage payment and provide Acme gift cards for groceries. Since his diagnosis, Kevin has been trying to find ways to help others who need support. He was happy to share his story with HOPE Nation to show his appreciation and to help others through their own battles. Kevin shared these wise words, “You can not control what happens to you, but you can control how you respond to it.”

Thank you, Kevin, for being a part of HOPE Nation!
