On Saturday, June 25th 2016, over 500 people came out to STOMP cancer at the 2nd Annual Sea Isle STOMPS Cancer 5k and Walk. The event took place in beautiful Sea Isle City, NJ. In the morning, runners and walkers made their way to the promenade for a 5k run and one mile walk to support local families affected by cancer.
After the race was complete, Stompers headed back to LaCosta Lounge and Deck Bar for BHH’s STOMP Fest. STOMP Fest was filled with food, music, and fun! The owner of LaCosta, Jimmy Bennett, was kind enough to host BHH and PHL17 made a highlight video of the spectacular day! We also had the pleasure of hearing our BHH Family Speaker, Maureen Walsh, talk about her “roadtrip” with cancer. You can check out the video of her speech below.
Maureen Walsh inspired all with her optimism and positivity:
“I’m on a road trip, not a journey. And through this road trip, it has been a positive experience. I’ve gained more than I’ve lost. I gained so much more this year. I don’t miss an ear, I don’t miss my face. I haven’t missed one thing this year. There hasn’t been one moment that I woke up and thought, “why me?” not one moment.”
Mauren went on to say,
“I really can’t say enough to thank Bringing Hope Home. I think the organization is outstanding. I want to volunteer, I want to stuff bags, and I want to be there.”
The Sea Isle STOMP raised over $40,000 for local families like Maureen’s who are affected by cancer. With these funds, BHH can continue to help relieve stress during this difficult time by taking care of those critical household bills. With the weight of unpaid bills lifted off their shoulders, they can focus all of their energy on getting well.
Bringing Hope Home would like to sincerely thank everyone who came out and supported our Sea Isle STOMP. We could not provide Unexpected Amazingness without all of you!
