On June 1, 2017, J R Fugett Middle School (FMS) held their annual Relay for HOPE event and raised nearly $13,000 for local families with cancer. Activities included walking the track, going head-to-head in homeroom spirit competitions, participating in grade-level activities, relay races, and listening to Rachel’s (a BHH family) story, which allowed the students to better understand what our families go through each day. Fugett’s very own Hope Squad, a group of dedicated students committed to spreading Unexpected Amazingness in their community, led their peers in these efforts.
Each year, the students are more and more excited about helping our families, but none of it would be possible without the leadership of two very dedicated teachers at FMS, Kerry Montgomery and Caitlin Student. The FMS students are very lucky to have these two women who were there to ensure everyone had the most impactful experience possible!
“Amazing! So proud of our FMS community! What a great day and incredible fundraising effort!” -Kerry Montgomery
The success of this year’s Relay for HOPE would not have been possible without the following sponsors:
Bringing Hope Home is so humbled and thankful to have such a wonderful partnership with Fugett Middle School. They always bring a huge amount of energy that is truly Unexpected Amazingness! In fact, last year they were awarded with our School of the Year Award, newly named the Commonwealth Cup.
THANK YOU, FUGETT MIDDLE SCHOOL!
