Through our 4th Annual Backpacks for Hope Program, we were able to provide over 150 backpacks filled with school supplies to children with a family member battling cancer, to get them ready for the start of the new school year.

At Bringing Hope Home, we know that when a family is diagnosed with cancer, their whole world changes. Many families do not have the financial means to purchase school supplies for their kids heading back to school and others are not feeling well enough to get to the store and shop for books, pencils, crayons, etc. This program allowed us to bring backpacks filled with supplies right to each family’s hospital for their children, so they did not need to worry about shopping.

This program would not have been possible without the support of our friends at Office Depot, who generously donated all of the school supplies that filled the bags. Office Depot’s team also joined us for a Backpack Packing Party at Hope Headquarters to fill all of the bags and helped deliver the bags to our hospitals.

“We are so thankful to be a part of this program each year. BHH is truly an organization like no other. It makes my heart so warm to know these kids are having a great first day of school in a very challenging time in life.” -Christine Maguire, Office Depot

We also could not have done it without our Hope Squad, who came out in full force to donate new school backpacks for our families. Through donations made by our supporters, we were also able to include a $10 Target gift card in each bag as well, so that families could buy a back to school outfit or anything additional they needed.

Thank you to everyone who helped to make this program possible. Please see below for some additional thank you notes we received. You can check out the full album of photos here.
