The holiday season is a very busy time for Bringing Hope Home (BHH), but when an emergency call comes in, all hands get to work. Just after Thanksgiving Amy Forkin, Director of Family Outreach with BHH, received a call from Kathy, a woman who is currently battling stage IV breast cancer, stating that her heater broke. During the bitter cold that the Philadelphia area has been experiencing, this was a very concerning phone call to receive.

Because of BHH’s generous partners, Amy was able to connect Kathy to ServiceMark Heating Cooling & Plumbing to send a service tech out to take a look. Kathy had previously received an estimate of $5,000 to replace the heater, but the ServiceMark team felt they could beat that price.  After a few phone calls, one of ServiceMark’s vendors, Daikin Corporation, generously offered to donate a new 60,000 BTU/HR gas-fired furnace. The ServiceMark service team also offered to donate their time to install the heater free of charge. The heater was installed 2 weeks before Christmas and Kathy is safely warm in her home.

“The employees and management at ServiceMark Heating Cooling & Plumbing have always felt that giving back to the community and to those families that suffer with the every-day financial hardships in the battle with cancer, is the right thing to do”, states George Davis, Marketing Manager. “It’s our way of being a part of the greater community and to show our appreciation for their trust and support. We believe that by teaming up with organizations like Bringing Hope Home, it is the most efficient and timely way to get to these families to assist them!”

“Bringing Hope Home has one goal, and that’s to help alleviate some of the financial burdens that cancer brings so families can worry just a little bit less”, said Paul Isenberg, CEO and Founder of BHH. “And in this situation, it was to connect the right people to get the job done. We couldn’t do what we do without the support of our corporate sponsors and donors!”

Thank you ServiceMark Heating Cooling & Plumbing and Daikin Corporation for keeping Kathy warm and for your generosity in her time of need!
