Sharon Story of HOPE

Sharon Johnson became part of the Bringing Hope Home Family in March 2022.

After an aggressive battle with breast cancer in 2015, Sharon was finally declared cancer-free and was getting back to her normal life. In 2021, she was due for a routine endoscopy and colonoscopy where she received the devastating news of a colon cancer diagnosis. Throughout her first cancer battle, she felt there was a lack of resources and communication provided to her. She often felt she was enduring this battle alone. When she began treatment for her second diagnosis, Sharon promised herself that she would advocate for extra resources and support. Sharon was in a low spot when she was introduced to Bringing Hope Home. In March of 2022, Bringing Hope Home assisted Sharon with her mortgage payment and provided her with ACME gift cards for grocery support. Sharon states, “Although my employer at the time was gracious enough to provide me with a relief fund that allowed me to pay months of mortgage and take care of several medical bills, I was beyond grateful I found Bringing Hope Home at the time that I did. Bringing Hope Home is an inspiration to me, and I am grateful and thankful that I am part of the family now.”

Sharon has since been able to join us at a few BHH events, including our Ella Bella Fashion Show, Great Guys Dinner, and Hope Family Reunion. She says the Hope Family Reunion Phillies game was one of the most fun days she has had. Sharon makes a constant effort to volunteer and supports Bringing Hope Home in any way she can. “I want to give back to this organization and support others who are going through the same thing I did.” Through her work with BHH, Sharon has created beautiful, handmade cards for families and donated Bags of Hope to local hospitals, which are shared with patients and families undergoing cancer treatment. She enjoys doing volunteer work with her niece and nephew and plans to continue giving back to BHH.

In her free time, Sharon enjoys spending time with her daughter and family, going out to dinner with friends and family, and attending family events. Her family is everything to her. She also enjoys going to the movie in her spare time and exercising as much as her body allows.

Sharon’s advice to a person in the midst of their battle with cancer is to, “Keep your head up and never give up. Love the person you become during your journey and always have faith.”
Thank you, Sharon, for sharing your story and for providing comfort and light to those in need. We are blessed to have you in our Bringing Hope Home Family!
