BHH has recently teamed up with ServiceMark Heating, Cooling & Plumbing to provide crucial assistance to a local family battling cancer.Maria, age 49 is currently battling stage III breast cancer. She resides in Norristown with her husband Ezra and their three children. In addition to the financial and emotional burdens that come with a cancer diagnosis and recently having a mastectomy, the family’s oil heater broke during the coldest month of the year.

Maria and her family have had to rely on one small space heater in their bathroom to heat the entire house and have been wearing their winter jackets inside. After multiple technicians came out to inspect and try to repair the heater, it would continually leak oil. It was decided that the boiler needed to be replaced. The cost of the boiler alone was an upwards of $6,000 for the part, excluding labor—a cost the family was unable to afford.

That is when Bringing Hope Home reached out to one of their valued partners ServiceMark Heating, Cooling & Plumbing to help Maria and her family. They responded quickly to generously donate the boiler and installation to Maria and her family during their time of need.

“When we got the call from Bringing Hope Home, we knew we would do everything we could to ensure this family had heat this winter” says George Davis, ServiceMark Marketing Manager.

Bringing Hope Home was introduced to Maria when she applied for assistance through the Cis B. Golder Quality of Life Grant. BHH offers this grant with their partner Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC) to local men and women currently battling breast cancer, living in certain counties in PA and NJ. BHH and LBBC have collaborated to assist those who are dealing with financial hardships that are directly related to their breast cancer diagnosis. Over the past seven years, over one million dollars has been granted to families with breast cancer. Additionally, BHH also offers their Light of Hope Family Grant Program that assists families with all types of cancer.
