Join us for a memorable evening of great gals, great guys, great food and drinks to support great gal, JoAnn Weinberg. To learn a little more about JoAnn and her courageous journey: In June 2010 JoAnn had a Bone Marrow Transplant at the University of Pennsylvania and the transplant failed. Her disease, myelofibrosis was active and JoAnn’s counts were in sharp decline. After extensive research JoAnn and her family decided on Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) for her second transplant based on their great history and reputation. The doctors and specialists at SCCA are among the best in the nation and have access to the latest therapies and treatments.
The Weinberg’s traveled to Seattle on August 24 to start pre-testing for her second bone marrow transplant. After being infected with a virus that put off the transplant six weeks, she entered the hospital on October 26. JoAnn was discharged on December 22; her transplant experience included an extreme case of virtually every adverse reaction to the chemotherapy including Muscositis, Nausea, and Congestive Heart failure. Her doctors said it normally takes six months for a heart to heal, her heart was performing at normal levels within 10 days. She was tough, mentally strong and fought through the pain.
In the end however her donor’s graft did not take, she was in Bone Marrow Failure and her white cells, hemoglobin and red cells very at very dangerously low levels. As a result she is transfusion dependent requiring either platelets, and/or red blood three times a week. Her doctors prognosis was that she could live for a year (maybe two) as long as she did not catch a virus or infection.
This event is to benefit the Weinberg family during their hard time. Every bit helps and we hope that you can join us on February 25. Tickets are $60 per person, $120 per couple! Additional donations are welcome and encouraged. Ticket includes great food, drinks and entertainment and a silent auction from 7PM-10PM all to benefit a great gal and a great family! See you there!
