Thompson Cain, 56, of Winona Lake, IN, died on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Penrose North Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO. Born in Bethlehem, PA, he was the son of Bernardine Anderson Yost of Mt. Laurel, NJ and the late Alan E. Yost. He was a 1980 graduate of the University of Delaware, earning a BA in Biological Sciences. Tom had a long and very rewarding career in Medical Device Sales & Marketing. Most recently, he was VP of Sales & Marketing for Biologics at Zimmer, Inc. He enjoyed the outdoors, hiking and was an enthusiastic world traveler. Tom was a loving son, brother and uncle who will be dearly missed. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sisters, Mary Ellen Currie of Colorado Springs, CO; Julie Kudyba of Reinach, Switzerland; Kristin Rose of Mt. Laurel, NJ; Miriam Horrocks-Isenberg of Glen Mills, PA and many nieces and nephews. Robert J. (Bob) Linden, 63, of Glen Mills, passed away at home on July 28, 2012, surrounded by his loving wife and children.

Born in Chester, PA, he was the son of the late John F. and Shirley L. (nee Kissinger) Linden. He attended Notre Dame de Lourdes School, Cardinal O’Hara High School, and earned his B.S. degree from Widener University. He served in the U.S. Army in the 14th Military Intelligence Battalion from 1969 to 1972, earning the Bronze Star Medal in Vietnam in 1971. Bob started his own specialty contracting company in 1988 that grew into four separate businesses. The Linden Companies now has operations in all the Mid-Atlantic states and is a true testament to his exemplary work ethic.

He was a dedicated family man who emphasized the virtue of life lessons through youth sports for many years. Bob was CYO Athletic Director at St. John Chrysostom Parish in Wallingford for 17 years where he coached both boys and girls basketball teams. He also initiated a youth intramural basketball program at St. John’s that grew from 35 to over 250 players during his tenure. In 2009, Bob was honored for his dedication to St. John’s school and parish, becoming one of the first inductees to the St. John’s “Wall of Fame.” Bob also coached Aston-Middletown Little League baseball and Nether Providence soccer. But basketball always held first place in his heart; his favorite time of the year was March Madness when he loved watching his favorite team, the Duke Blue Devils, whom he was able to witness winning the National Championship in Indianapolis in 2010.

A lector for many years at St. John Chrysostom Church, Bob was a member of the Union League of Philadelphia, the Knights of Columbus Council 10935 of Wallingford and a Fourth Degree member of the Cardinal Dougherty Assembly 913. He was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life Cancer Prevention Study 3 where he dedicated tremendous time and effort in helping to support the research cause.

His most important contribution to life was being a dedicated and caring husband, father, and grandfather. Bob was well-known for his pearls of wisdom, his sense of humor and his extraordinary ability to make everyone he met feel special. His infectious smile and the way he lit up a room to make everyone laugh will be sadly missed by countless relatives and friends who supported and loved him throughout his 3 year battle with colon cancer.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Patricia (nee Quercetti) Linden; his devoted children, Stacy R. Linden, Steven R. Linden (Rose), John P. Linden, Jeffrey P. Linden; his adoring granddaughters, Nicolette and Vanessa Linden – who were the joy and loves of his life; his father and mother-in-law, Nicholas and Marie Quercetti; his sisters Deborah Marchese and Kathleen Stefanide; as well as his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many cousins.

Interment: Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.

Jane Grinspan, 66, of Merion, a writer, cook, and longtime publications director for the Franklin Institute, died Sunday, Dec. 30, of breast cancer, at her home.

Mrs. Grinspan was a 50-year resident of the Philadelphia area. Her family said she was a renaissance woman with wide-ranging talents. In 1971, she was hired at the Franklin Institute, where she spent 39 years as a writer and editor before retiring in 2010. She relished the city’s food and arts scene, and parlayed her knowledge into restaurant reviews that appeared in the Bulletin in the early 1970s. “She was a mean cook, talented painter, and classically trained pianist who is remembered by friends and family as a woman with exquisite taste, a remarkable intuitiveness about mothering, and a humble attitude about her own qualities,” her family said.

Mrs. Grinspan was born in Newark, N.J., and raised in West Orange, N.J. She was an accomplished pianist who played the instrument from a young age and performed in Carnegie Hall. She moved to Philadelphia soon after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania in 1957. She majored in music with a minor in English literature. Mrs. Grinspan met her husband, Samuel, when his aunt set up a blind date. At first he resisted the idea, but soon the couple were dating, and within six months of that, they married, in May 1970, her husband said. In the kitchen, she whipped up anything from continental fare to Chinese dishes, all from scratch. “She is remembered for [her] mushroom barley soup and sublime apple pie, and her daughters were sent to school with gourmet lunches that were the envy of their friends,” her family said. She loved animals, especially the family’s akita.

In 1990, the Grinspans traveled to Telluride, Colo., and fell in love with the people of the San Juan Mountains. They returned there often to ski and spend time with their two daughters. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Grinspan is survived by daughters Barbara Sokolow and Carolyn “Caci,” and a brother.

A devoted mother, daughter and friend, Brenda Donnelly, 60, of Elk Township passed away on March 10, 2013. Born in Woodbury, Brenda was the daughter of James & Jane Wiley. Previously, she had worked for Friends School in Mullica Hill as an administrative assistant.

She is survived by her three daughters, Nicole Donnelly, Melissa Donnelly and Melinda Donnelly; her parents, James & Jane Wiley; two brothers, David Wiley and James Wiley and her long time friend William Kengeter.

Kathryn Marie Scott passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, March 12, 2013 at her home. She was 31 years old. Born in West Chester, Pennsylvania, she was the beloved daughter of Arlene Susan Scott (nee Twaddell) and Joseph Scott.

Kathryn was a 1999 graduate of Unionville High School. She continued her education at Immaculata University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in 2007. In her working career, Kathryn was employed by State Farm Insurance as a claim representative.

She was the granddaughter of Marie Scott and the late Virgil Scott, the late Robert and the late Frances Twaddell; sister of Michael Scott, Matthew Scott and Virgil Scott. Also survived by her soulmate, Bradley Ziemer.
